| 9/7/2008 | Ride the Bridge and Bike the Bay | San Diego | Local bicyclists for the first-time since the mid-‘80s will get the opportunity to pedal across the San Diego-Coronado Bay Bridge and then traverse along some of the county’s most scenic bayshore routes during the Bike the Bay Ride on Sunday, Sept. 7. This non-competitive 25-mile ride starts at 7 a.m. at Embarcadero Marina Park South on Harbor Drive in San Diego and travels over the 2.1-mile bridge and along the expanded Bayshore Bikeway. The relaxed ride, open to riders 14 years and older and recommended for all cycling abilities, will meander along bayside paths and down dedicated bike lanes through the quiet streets of Coronado, Imperial Beach, Chula Vista and National City before concluding with post-ride festivities at Embarcadero Marina Park. Fashion Week | San Diego | The first annual Fashion Week San Diego is poised to position San Diego as a global competitor in the fashion arena. World-famous designers, artistically-inclined sponsors and Southern California's fashion elite are coming together to create an unparalleled fashion event open to both the industry and the public. The event is being organized by San Diego's own APA Consulting. Some of the world's premier designers will send a spiral of models down the runway at the Sheraton San Diego Hotel and Marina. All runway events will take place in a permanent tent that holds more than 3000 people, located on the hotel grounds along the sparkling San Diego Bay. Fashion Week San Diego will consist of seven days of social mixers, cultural experiences, niche boutiques, global designers, in-store events and, of course, fashion shows featuring local trendsetters and worldwide leaders in the fashion industry. The event will provide an all-encompassing look at fashion, design, merchandising and trends in this ever-evolving industry. Official Fashion Week San Diego events will be held each day, Sept. 28 - Oct. 5, from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m., followed by an official after party each night. Fashion Week San Diego is committed to both avant-garde fashion and socially conscious living. The event will include environmentally friendly fashion designs.
